Edible Blooms Celebrates 18 Years of Delivering Smiles in New Zealand 🎂💕
This year is a very special one for us at Edible Blooms.
Edible Blooms New Zealand is turning 18!
For 18 years, we've had the privilege of helping Kiwis celebrate birthdays, new babies, anniversaries, congratulations, thank yous, milestones and all those little “just because” moments that mean so much.
But the Edible Blooms story actually began a little earlier — across the Tasman in Brisbane.
It All Started With an Idea...
21 years ago, Kelly, Abbey and Sarah had an idea to create something completely different in the gifting world.
It began with fruit bouquets — fresh fruit beautifully arranged like flowers.
The idea was simple: take the joy of receiving flowers and combine it with something delicious.
It wasn't long before chocolate joined the party, and our chocolate flower bouquets began to take shape. 🍫💐
Those early creations helped establish something that remains at the heart of Edible Blooms today:
Creating gifts that don't just arrive — they create a reaction.
Bringing Edible Blooms Home to New Zealand
After having her first child, Edible Blooms co-founder Sarah decided it was time to move home to New Zealand.
And Edible Blooms came with her.
In 2008, Sarah opened the first Edible Blooms store outside Australia, bringing the concept to New Zealand for the very first time.
Back then, it would have been difficult to imagine just how many special occasions Edible Blooms would eventually become part of.
Eighteen years later, we've created and delivered gifts for birthdays, anniversaries, new babies, weddings, congratulations, thank yous, Mother's Days, Father's Days, Christmases, corporate celebrations and countless surprises sent simply to let someone know:
“I'm thinking of you.”
From Fruit Bouquets to So Much More
A lot has changed since those early fruit bouquets.
Over the years our range has grown to include our much-loved chocolate bouquets, chocolate-dipped strawberries, fresh donut gifts, brownie boxes, birthday gifts, gourmet gift boxes and beautiful gift hampers.
But although the gifts have evolved, the reason behind them hasn't.
We want to help people make someone smile.
And sometimes we get lucky enough to see that smile ourselves.
The Best Part of the Job? Seeing the Door Open 💕
Every now and then, Sarah still gets the opportunity to jump in the car and personally deliver an Edible Blooms order.
And after 18 years, it's still one of her favourite parts of the job.
There's something pretty special about knocking on someone's door when they have absolutely no idea that a gift is coming.
The door opens.
They realise the delivery is for them.
And then you see the reaction.
Sometimes it's a huge smile.
Sometimes there's laughter.
Sometimes there are tears.
And occasionally...
There's screaming. 😂
One Delivery We'll Never Forget
One evening many years ago, at around 5pm, a last-minute order needed to be delivered.
So Sarah bundled her two young boys into the car and off they went to make one final Edible Blooms delivery.
When they arrived and handed over the gift, the woman receiving it was so surprised and excited that she literally screamed with delight.
Back in the car, Sarah's boys couldn't believe what they had just witnessed.
“Mum! Did you hear that? She was SO excited — she was screaming!”
It's a moment Sarah has never forgotten.
Because in one little doorstep reaction, it captured exactly what Edible Blooms is all about.
Someone had taken the time to choose a gift for another person.
And for a few moments, that gift created pure joy.

That's why reaching our 18th birthday in New Zealand means so much to us.
Behind every chocolate bouquet, donut box or gift hamper is a person sending a message to another person.
